Abu-Ghazaleh Discusses with Director of UNRWA Operations in Jordan His 'UNRWA Schools Fund' Initiative





AMMAN- HE Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh received HE Mr. Roger Davies, Director of UNRWA Operations in Jordan who came to bid farewell on the occasion of concluding his tenure in the Kingdom.

During the meeting, Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh highlighted the efforts of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) and Mr. Davies' support to the Palestinians and their cause.

Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh stressed that the effort of UNRWA in supporting the noble cause of the Palestinians is much appreciated saying: "We thank you and thank the UNRWA for all the work and support for the Palestinians everywhere especially in the field of education. 

He also discussed "Abu-Ghazaleh's Initiative to Teach UNRWA's Students" which is based on establishing a fund to teach students in UNRWA schools through a symbolic contribution by all those who wish to support this noble cause worldwide by sending a $10 or more contribution to a special bank account in the name, supervision and management solely by UNRWA. 

Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh, who as a Palestinian refugee benefited from UNRWA Scholarship to continue his studies, called on the world to carry the responsibility towards the Palestinian cause and respond to this noble campaign stressing that he is ready to allocate all available resources in his 110+ offices around the world to assist UNRWA and the campaign to reach the globe.

For his part, Mr. Davies thanked Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh for his unmatched dedication calling him "an inspiration" and a "visionary."

"Your words and vision for everything Palestine is truly an inspiration to all of us. You became a refugee and today you are standing beside them and supporting them in all means. Thank you for this great dedication and inspiration," Mr. Davies said.

"Since we met, I had this strong admiration of your futuristic vision for a better future and your optimism is a role model that we follow. Thank you for the inspiration and guidance," he added. 

Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh requested Mr. Davies' guidance in the Philippines as he is heading there after leaving Jordan and asked him to be involved in TAG-Org's newest office which will be opened soon in Manilla to be added to the rest of the offices opened in Southeast Asia.

At the end of the meeting, Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh presented Mr. Davies with TAG-Org's Honorary Shield in recognition for his effort and role in supporting the Palestinian cause.
