Journalist Al-Imam Presents her New Book “Struggles of Palestinian Women” to Abu-Ghazaleh





AMMAN – HE Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh received in his office journalist Mahasen Al-Imam, founder and chairman of the Arab Women Media Center.

Al-Imam presented the first copy of her book entitled Nidalat Al Mar’a Al Filestiniya translated into “Struggles of Palestinian Women” issued by the Arab Institution for Research and Publishing, to Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh. The 208-page book documents the struggle of Palestinian women since 1917.  

The book also includes an introduction about the history of the Palestinian struggle and revolution, the role of women in the first Intifada (Palestinian uprising against Israeli occupation) and activities of women’s committees, in addition to a list indicating the number of female martyrs distributed by region, population, groups and causes of martyrdom as per the years of Intifada. 

Featuring photographic documentation, the book highlights the role of Palestinian women in education under occupation as well as their contribution to the preservation of folklore. Ms. Al-Imam also shed light on the positive role of Palestinian women in media, culture and art, citing examples of immortal Palestinian women. 

For his part, Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh appreciated the efforts exerted in preparing the book, and commended resisting Palestinian women, stressing the need for supporting families of Palestinian female prisoners in Israeli prisons.
