Abu-Ghazaleh I am grateful to Lebanon and its South for hosting me as a Palestinian Refugee
BIERUT - Baakline Poetry Forum in Lebanon and the Poetry House in Jordan organized an honoring ceremony for HE Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh, founder and chairman of Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Global (TAG.Global). The ceremony was held under the patronage of Lebanon’s MP Taymor Jumblatt but MP Mr. Alaa Eddine Terrou attended on behalf of Mr. Jumblatt.
During the ceremony, Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh thanked the people of Baakline in general, and the Poetry Forum and Poetry House in particular, affirming TAG.Global’s readiness to offer its technical assistance to Baakline Municipal Council in transforming it into a Smart Town.
Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh addressed the audience urging them to teach their children the Artificial Intelligence (AI) based future sciences attributed to the importance of creativity, now and in the future.
He also briefed the participants on his childhood and the course of events during his early years that started in Jaffa in Occupied Palestine; his and his families forced migration from their home town in Palestine by boat to the town of Ghazieh in South Lebanon in 1948 highlighting the generosity of the Lebanese people and acknowledging their role and support in his achievements since his arrival to this great country.
Furthermore, Abu Ghazaleh underlined Jordan’s ongoing support for him too, saying that Jordan became his home along with his own country Palestine, expressing deep gratitude for the positive support from each and every Arab official and leader he met during his life as well as their readiness to accept any advice that contributed to the development of their countries.
Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh referred to Abu-Ghazaleh Intellectual Property (AGIP) which was established in Kuwait in 1972 and became the largest IP firm in the world, noting that AGIP has been always distinguished thanks to its ICT-based Intellectual Property services.
Meanwhile, Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh revealed how TAG.Global helped Lebanon restore official files and documents following the Civil War in the country through TAG.Global Databank; the only database that includes all registered trademarks worldwide.
During the ceremony, Mr. Ghazi Saab, representative of the Minister of Culture and Director of Lebanese National Library, expressed Baakline and the National Library’s pride in hosting Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh.
Mr. Abdullah Al Ghusaini, Mayor of Baakline, described Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh as a self-made man who had scientific, technical and ethical contributions to a number of laws related to commercial procedures, contracts and Intellectual Property Rights, in addition to launching “Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Accountancy & Business Dictionary”, a dictionary that meets the needs of accountants and accounting students worldwide.
For his part Mr. Shawqi Hamadah, Baakline Poetry Forum President, said, “Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh is a man of great achievements. The young boy from Yafa who used to walk for hours to reach his school in Saida, is now the goal of universities and educational institutes from all over the world that head towards him seeking his guidance.”
In the meantime, poet and writer Dr. Hadi Eid read some of his poems that highlighted Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh’s hard childhood refugee life and his subsequent achievements in the fields of science, education and business. Jordanian poet Dr. Sameer Qudaisat read excerpts of his new collection of poems entitled “I Love Lebanon” which will be issued soon, saying that Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh is an Arab model with a success story that have to be widely taught. He concluded by a reading a poem presented to Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh under the title “Yafa Tonadik” (Jaffa is Calling You).
At the end of the ceremony, organizers presented and honoring shield to Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh who likewise presented TAG.Global’s shield to Dr. Eid, representative of Baakline Poetry Forum.
